Prehen is one of the finest houses in northwest Ireland with an equally fascinating history. This is the story of the Anglo-Irish-American family who, fifty years ago, rescued it from dereliction. Once again it is in search of a champion, so this is a timely opportunity to examine the history of one of our most precious architectural treasures and the sort of defenders such buildings require.

Daniel Calley writes on architectural history with a particular interest in the buildings of County Londonderry and the families that built them.
