The Society is organising a three day visit to Oxford in the Spring. We will be based in the four star Mercure hotel Eastgate which is well located to enjoy walking around this beautiful city.

On the first evening we will be given an introductory lecture by [Professor Cannon William Whyte](https://www.history.ox.ac.uk/people/professor-william-whyte) to give us a flavour of Oxford. The following morning we will enjoy a guided tour on foot by local historian, [Liz Woolley](http://lizwoolley.co.uk), who lectures on Oxford and Oxfordshire. The afternoon will be free for visiting local landmarks and nearby museums such as the Ashmolean.

The following morning we depart by coach to visit historic properties in Oxfordshire. The visit will include Rousham House and gardens, Chastleton House and Ditchley Park – all places of interest which give a wider perspective on the county.

We conclude the day with dinner in our hotel.

14 May – Event ends after breakfast
